I think it’s fairly obvious that SoulCycle is my workout of choice. And I’m not the only one: the brand has experienced huge growth in the past couple of years, from a handful of studios in New York City to more than 70 throughout the United States and Canada (and international expansion is on the horizon in London). And the woman at the head of that success? CEO Melanie Whelan.

When I was in college, one of my career role models was Angela Ahrendts, then-CEO of Burberry (still true). Now, I’d add Melanie Whelan to that list as well. She started in hospitality and has grown amazing brands throughout her career, from Virgin America to W Hotels. She was on the Equinox team when they acquired SoulCycle, eventually became their CEO, and landed on the Fortune 40 Under 40 list along the way. Plus, it seems like she loves a good leather jacket just as much as I do.

So, yeah, I’d say Melanie is total career #goals. Here are six of her best tips and quotes for a mega-dose of inspiration:

+ I think there is something such as work-life integration—I am not a CEO and then a mother, I am all of these things in one… I don’t think, in this day and age, with all our connectivity, we have the luxury of going from work to life. I think it is just one big life and you have to move through it pretty fluidly. It probably sounds easy, but it is the hardest thing to do. {Source: Coveteur}
